Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a permanent Driver/Refuse Loader based at Emerald Street Depot, Huddersfield. The role involves driving LGV vehicles up to Class 2, collecting refuse/trade waste, and assisting with cleansing duties across Kirklees.

You will work 39.5 hours Mon-Fri with occasional Saturday shifts, be trained, and contribute to a safe, efficient street environment while upholding a positive public image.

Qualifications

• Drive refuse vehicles in line with traffic regulations, Highway Code and health & safety.
• Contribute to staff training and supervision.
• Maintain driver records, time sheets and in-cab data.
• Provide information to the public on refuse collection arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Drive refuse vehicles up to LGV class where required.
• Work solo or in teams to collect refuse and trade waste from households/businesses.
• Check and maintain vehicles and complete records and tachographs.
• Ensure routes are followed and assist households needing support.
• Communicate service delivery matters effectively.
• Support deployment of staff to meet service delivery goals.
