Job summary

Sandside Lodge School in Ulverston is recruiting two Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join from September. The school caters for pupils aged four to nineteen with severe learning difficulties and additional needs, often requiring personalised support and specialist strategies.

The role involves assisting students under teacher guidance, working with the SENDCO, contributing to planning, monitoring, and assessment, and liaising with parents and external agencies.

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or higher (or working towards).
Willingness to learn and develop professional skills.
Interest in education and working with young people with additional needs.

Responsibilities

Support the child in learning under the direction of the class teacher.
Work closely with the SENDCO.
Contribute to planning, monitoring and assessing pupils in partnership with the class teacher.
Liaise with the class teacher regarding progress and development.
Liaise with parents and outside agencies.
Work with the child on a 1-1 basis, in small groups and in class to prevent over-dependence.
Set targets for IEPs/EHCs and contribute to their development and implementation.
Be conversant with safeguarding procedures for children.
Attend relevant training and meetings related to the role.

Job description

Sandside Lodge School are looking to recruit two Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join their team for a September start!

Sandside Lodge School is a special school catering for students aged between four and nineteen who have an Education Health and Care Plan. All our students have severe learning difficulties and additional needs such as Autism, physical difficulties, hearing or vision impaired and communication differences. We cater for all needs with a highly personalised approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities

To support the child in his/her learning under the direction of class teacher.
To work closely with the SENDCO.
To contribute to planning, monitoring and assessing pupils in partnership with the class teacher.
To liaise with the class teacher with reference to progress and development.
To liaise with parents.
To liaise with outside agencies.
To work with the child on a 1-1, alongside other children, in small groups and in the class group, to ensure he/she does not become over dependent.
To be involved in setting targets for IEPs, including contributing to development and implementation of IEPs/EHCs.
To be conversant with the procedure for safeguarding children.
Select, prepare and clear away classroom materials and learning areas ensuring they are available for use, including developing and presenting displays.
To attend relevant training, meetings, discussions in relation to the role.
