Job summary

The Oaklands Primary School in Acock’s Green, Birmingham, is seeking a Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children’s learning and development through high‑quality interactions, play, and planned experiences. The role requires a Level 3 TA qualification and GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/5 or above, with a passion for early years education.

You will work within Summit Learning Trust, contributing to an aspirational and supportive environment, with bespoke PD opportunities

Qualifications

  • Level 3 TA qualification and GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/5 or above or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting Early Years learning and development.
  • Strong communication and language development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support children’s learning and development through purposeful play and planned experiences.
  • Foster rich conversations, extend vocabulary and encourage curiosity.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive environment where children feel valued and confident to learn.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Summit Learning Trust to share best practice.

Hours: 32.5 hours a week, Monday – Friday, Term time only

Salary: Grade 3 (points 9 - 22) FTE £28,153 - £34,811. Actual salary £22,162 - £27,404.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and ambitious Early Years team. Working within our inspiring provision, you will play a key role in supporting children’s learning and development through high-quality interactions, purposeful play and carefully planned experiences. You will help create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to explore, question, investigate and learn.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of developing children’s communication and language skills, supporting rich conversations, extending vocabulary and fostering a love of learning. They will be passionate about encouraging curiosity, independence, creativity and problem-solving, recognising that every interaction is an opportunity to help children flourish.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside skilled practitioners in a nurturing and ambitious setting where children are encouraged to become confident communicators, resilient learners, and enthusiastic explorers of the world around them.

The Oaklands Primary School is a 2-form entry Primary school in Acock’s Green Birmingham. Our Ofsted report (March 2025) has identified many positives within our school including the school being “highly ambitious for all pupils to learn, experience, achieve and flourish”. The school provides an “exceptional education experience for all”, with an “aspirational curriculum” which is “meticulously planned and sequenced” and has “high expectations embedded across the curriculum”.
