Job summary

The Oaklands Primary School in Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic school office administrator to join the busy front desk. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and parents, delivering efficient reception and admin support in a 2-form entry setting.

Applicants should have Level 4 English and Maths, with MS Office and database experience and strong customer service, communication, and resilience for a fast-paced school environment. Experience in a school is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Educated to level 4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Ideally an intermediate or higher qualification in word processing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and databases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support in the school office and on reception, being the first point of contact for visitors and parents.
  • Maintain records and manage clerical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support day-to-day admin duties and ensure effective customer service.

We seek a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our busy school office team to provide an effective administrative support service. This will involve working in the school reception being the first point of call for all visitors and parents. No two days are the same so the successful candidate will need to have the resilience and enthusiasm to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful you should be educated to level 4 or above in English and Maths and ideally have an intermediate level or above qualification in word processing. You should have experience of using Microsoft office and databases packages. It is also essential that you have excellent customer service and communication skills as well as previous experience in administration including reception work. Experience of working in a school setting is desirable.

The Oaklands Primary School is a 2-form entry Primary school in Acock’s Green Birmingham. Our Ofsted report (March 2025) has identified many positives within our school including the school being “highly ambitious for all pupils to learn, experience, achieve and flourish”. The school provides an “exceptional education experience for all”, with an “aspirational curriculum” which is “meticulously planned and sequenced” and has “high expectations embedded across the curriculum”.
