Job summary

Northmoor Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupil learning and resource preparation. The role requires NVQ 3 or equivalent, Literacy & Numeracy Level 2, and completion of the DfE induction programme.

Applicants should demonstrate awareness of special needs requirements and experience with learning resources, plus ability to work with children of relevant ages including 2-year-olds. Strong communication with parents is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification or experience or willingness to work towards.
• Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the National Qualification & Credit Framework.
• Completion of Department for Education Teacher Assistant Induction Programme.
• Awareness of the requirements of children with special needs.
• Experience of working with learning resources and helping with their preparation to support learning programmes.
• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age (including 2-year-old provision).
• Communication skills to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers.
• Basic understanding of a child’s development and learning.

Responsibilities

• Support learning programmes by assisting with activities and teaching resources.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources to support pupils’ needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers to update on progress.
• Assist in caring for children of the appropriate age as needed.

Job description

The successful candidate will have:

• NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experienceor willingness to work towards

• Literacy and Numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 of the National Qualification & Credit Framework

• Completion of Department for Education Teacher Assistant Induction Programme (orto complete within first term)

• Awareness of the requirements of children with special needs

• Experience of working with learning resources and helping with their preparation to support learning programmes

• Experience ofworking with or caring for children of a relevant age to those in the school(including 2-year-old provision)

• Communication skills to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents and carers

• Basic understanding of a child’s development and learning.
