Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant for The Holy Brook School in Reading. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, term time only plus INSET days, supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH and neurodivergent needs in a friendly school community.

Experience with SEN and child development is desirable, with qualifications in childcare. The school offers professional development and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of child development
• Experience working with children, ideally with SEN
• Experience organizing play activities to support learning
• Patient, calm, nurturing and adaptable
• Ability to work well independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN and SEMH on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist the class teacher with learning activities and resource preparation
• Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and social independence
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
