Job summary

GSL Education - South Yorkshire in Sheffield is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Primary) to support learning and independence across the school day. You will work alongside the class teacher, delivering one-to-one and small-group support to pupils and helping access learning activities.

The role starts September 2026 with long-term, temporary contracts and flexible full-time/part-time hours. A Level 3 TA qualification and safeguarding awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
• A good understanding of children's learning and development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff and pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning.
• Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and develop greater independence.
• Support children with additional learning, social or emotional needs where appropriate.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
• Observe and record pupil progress, sharing relevant feedback with the class teacher.
• Assist with classroom organisation and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
