Job summary

Brookes Bell invites applications for a Laboratory Materials Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3) based at their Wirral lab in Birkenhead. You will join the metallurgical testing services team, with opportunities to collaborate with NDT colleagues and other departments.

The role provides hands‑on training while handling samples, preparing specimens, and operating analytical equipment. Starting salary is £26,227.50 per year with a Monday‑to‑Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Be 18 or over and eligible to work in the UK.
• UK resident for at least 3 years (apprenticeship eligibility).
• Willingness to undergo on‑the‑job training and operate laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the workshop and support day‑to‑day operations in the metallurgical lab.
• Handle, prepare and test metallic samples, including large items.
• Assist with metallurgical investigations and document samples and equipment calibration.
• Operate microscopy and analytical equipment; support NDT teams as needed.
