Job summary

Meadow High School is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team. The role involves supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs, working with teachers, and assisting in their learning environment and personal care.

The post is permanent, 32.5 hours a week, term time plus 5 training days, with pathways at Northwood Road Harefield and Royal Lane Hillingdon. Training such as Signalong/Team Teach will be provided.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or GCSEs or equivalent experience.
  • A sound knowledge of Literacy and Numeracy.
  • A desire for working with students with moderate and complex learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience is desirable.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting children and their learning.
  • Ability to work well on your own and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake personal care of pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils' learning environment and personal care.
  • Work alongside teachers to support students.
  • Assist with managing challenging behaviours and ASD needs.

Level 2 Teaching Assistant

Contract type: Permanent
Work pattern: 32.5 hours per week; Term time + 5 training days (39 weeks)
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Friday 08:30am - 3.30 pm
Salary information: Scale 3; £22,929 - £23,256 per annum (dependent upon experience) + SSA, £1,198 per annum
Start date: ASAP

Due to our expanding roll and the changing needs of our students, an opportunity has arisen for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team of staff. We are particularly interested in people who have experience of working with young people with ASD and complex learning difficulties.

Meadow High School is a special needs school, which provides education for secondary aged students aged 11-19 years with moderate and complex needs including challenging behaviour and autism. The post involves working alongside teachers, supporting pupils' learning environment and personal care. Energy, physical ability and enthusiasm to work with these pupils are required. Induction and training including Signalong and Team Teach, will be given for this rewarding job, which offers the chance to progress. The school has received a good OFSTED report for the quality of the teaching.

To support the Local Authority we are expanding further with a new development project. This is an additional site based in Harefield, called 'Northwood Road'. This will house up to 100 Pathway 1 pupils and should be ready for us to occupy in Autumn 2026.

Please note, the successful candidatewill be deployed to either of our Pathways.

Pathway 1 (Location: Royal Lane, Hillingdon until Autumn 2026, Northwood Road, Harefield Village from Autumn 2026 onwards.)

Pathway 2 (Location: Royal Lane, Hillingdon.)

Applicants should have:

  • NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications (GCSE’s) or experience.
  • A sound knowledge of Literacy and Numeracy.
  • A desire for working with students with moderate and complex learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience is desirable although consideration will be given to applicants with relevant skills.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting children and their learning.
  • The ability to work well on your own and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and sense of humour.
  • A willingness to learn new skills.
  • A willingness to undertake personal care of pupils.
  • The successful applicant must have a high standard of written and spoken English.

Applicants who are willing to have training to drive the school minibus are especially welcome.
