Job summary

Great Cornish Good Store in Truro is offering an apprenticeship as a Level 2 Butcher Apprentice. You will join the butchery team, learn traditional and modern techniques, and contribute to a high standard of customer service in a local Cornish retailer.

The role supports stock management, kitchen linkages, and the in-store café/deli with fresh ingredients sourced locally. Training is provided by Cornwall College, with an expected duration of 1 year 3 months.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at minimum grade 3 required.
• Desirable GCSE English and Maths at grade 4.
• Level 2 Butcher apprenticeship programme.
• Strong communication and customer service through the training period.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and presenting fresh meat to high standards.
• Learn traditional and modern butchery techniques under expert guidance.
• Provide excellent customer service and inform customers.
• Maintain clean, safe and hygienic work area per food safety standards.
• Support stock rotation, merchandising, cleaning, waste management and daily tasks.
