Job summary

Summerfield Care Home in Branston is seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen team. The role offers 30 hours a week, an hourly salary of £8.00, and a 15-month Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship.

You will learn to prepare nutritious meals, follow menus and dietary requirements, manage basic stock, and ensure food safety under a tutor with monthly reviews. Potential progression to full-time on completion.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard qualification.
• Dedicated tutor conducts monthly tutorials and reviews.
• Pre-employment right-to-work checks and DBS via Matrix Screening.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for residents daily, following menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared safely and meet nutritional needs.
• Carry out basic food ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste.
• Maintain records such as temperature checks and stock sheets.
• Liaise with staff regarding meal times and special dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
• Carry out other duties as required.
