Job summary

Caremark Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire is offering a Care Support Apprenticeship in Cambridge. You will visit clients in their own homes to provide personal care, companionship and light domestic tasks under supervision.

The 13‑month programme pays £8.00 per hour with an automatic pay increase after one year for 19+ year olds. Hours are 30 per week, working Mon–Sun (7am–10pm). Location: Unit 7, Grange Park, Broadway, Bourn, CB23 2TA.

We are seeking a caring care worker visiting clients in their own home, to provide personal care, companionship, light domestic work, shopping, transfers, medication administration.

Apprenticeship Overview:
  • Salary: £8.00 an hour,Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday to Sunday between 7am – 10pm (shifts to be confirmed)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 months

Care Support Apprentice – Key Responsibilities

As a Care Support Apprentice, you will learn how to provide high-quality care and support to people in their own homes while developing valuable skills and experience.

You will:
  • To assist clients who need help getting up and going to bed in the morning and evenings, including dressing and undressing, washing, bathing and going to the toilet.
  • To help clients with their mobility and with any physical disabilities, including incontinence and use of personal aids and equipment.
  • To care for clients who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feeding etc.
  • To provide care and support for clients who are terminally ill.
  • To help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of clients through talking, outings, reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
  • To make and change beds, light cleaning, emptying commodes and general tidying.
  • To inspect, launder and mend clients’ clothes.
  • To set tables and trays, prepare and serve light meals, clearing away and washing up.
  • To read and write reports and be involved in clients’ reviews and training activities.
  • To adhere to all Caremark’s policies and procedures at all times.
  • To report either to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a client.
  • To encourage the independence of clients wherever possible.

Essential
