Job summary

SMS Environmental is seeking an experienced Legionella Risk Assessor to join our UKAS-accredited team. You will carry out Legionella Risk Assessments across client sites nationwide in a field-based role, reporting findings and recommending control measures to keep water systems safe and compliant.

The role combines fieldwork with high-quality reporting, in a company that values rigorous quality and professional development. A driving licence is essential for travel across the UK.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Legionella Risk Assessor
• Strong knowledge of water systems and Legionella control
• Experience working to ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1
• Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports

The Role

You'll carry out Legionella Risk Assessments across a wide range of client sites throughout London and the South East, with occasional travel elsewhere in the UK. Working independently in the field, you'll assess water systems, identify risks, and provide clear, practical recommendations to help clients remain compliant and safe.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience as a Legionella Risk Assessor
• Strong knowledge of water systems and Legionella control
• Experience working to ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1
• Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Experience using digital reporting systems
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• BOHS, City & Guilds, WMSoc or equivalent Legionella Risk Assessor qualification
• Background in water hygiene, water treatment, engineering or building services
• Experience working within a UKAS-accredited environment
