Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced technology professional to join our dedicated Innovation and Legal Technology Team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer, the Head of IT Applications and Development, and the wider Innovation and Legal Technology Team.

This role can be based in Bristol, Newcastle, Plymouth, or Leeds and falls under our hybrid working policy. We ask that you reside close enough to one of our regional office locations to visit as per current working practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement and Deployment: Identify, evaluate, and procure legal technology applications that align with our innovation strategy and the needs of end users. Coordinate the onboarding, configuration, and deployment of these tools.
  2. Management and Maintenance: Ensure the ongoing management, maintenance, and support of the legal technology applications in the self-service toolkit. Monitor adoption, performance, ROI, new features/updates, user feedback, and contractual events such as renewals.
  3. Supplier Relationships: Build strong, collaborative relationships with our legal technology suppliers, ensuring they deliver the expected level of service and maintain a proactive roadmap of features.
  4. Budget Management: Monitor the budget for legal technology applications, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits and provide value for money.
  5. Training, Support, and Adoption: Work with IT Trainers to develop and deliver self-service training materials for the toolkit. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate with the IT team to meet technical requirements and standards. Liaise with legal teams to understand their needs and raise awareness of suitable tools.
  7. Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated on legal technology trends and propose enhancements to keep the toolkit cutting-edge.
  8. Ownership: Act as the application owner for all legal technology applications.
  9. Compliance: Ensure applications comply with information security requirements and document such compliance.

What are we looking for?

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders, build business cases, and negotiate contracts. Strong project management skills, with familiarity in agile methodologies, are also important.

Finally, interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration across teams.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in information technology, computer science, project management, or law.
  • Strong project management skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Solid understanding of legal technology tools and platforms.
  • Proficiency in software deployment, integration, and management.
