Job summary

HCR in Northampton is seeking a highly organised Legal Support Assistant to join our busy Private Client team. You will back solicitors handling wills, probate, trusts and powers of attorney with precise admin and a client‑facing approach.

Based in our Northampton office and reporting to the Legal Support Manager, you will provide in‑depth business support to Partners and fee earners, helping draft documents, manage diaries and liaise with clients and third parties.

Qualifications

  • Adaptable and personable telephone etiquette with client-facing experience.
  • Proactive nature with excellent attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Strong administration experience with PA duties.
  • Experience in a legal, medical or professional services environment; Private Client sector desirable.
  • Proficient IT skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Proactive diary management for allocated fee earners.
  • Preparing correspondence and documents via audio typing and word processing.
  • Drafting and formatting letters, documents and forms.
  • Being the first point of contact for clients.
  • Liaising with third parties such as banks, Probate Registry and HMRC.
  • Administrative and business support for allocated fee earners, anticipating team needs.
  • Assisting with preparation of all financial transactions as required.

You will support our solicitors who deal with wills, probate, trusts, and powers of attorney, providing great administrative support and delivering kind, professional care to our clients. Based in our Northampton office and reporting to the Legal Support Manager, you will provide in-depth business support to the Partners and fee earners within the team.

Responsibilities Of a Legal Support Assistant Include
  • Proactive diary management for allocated fee earners.
  • Preparing correspondence and documents through audio typing and word-processing.
  • Drafting and formatting of letters, documents and forms.
  • Being the first point of contact for clients.
  • Liaising directly with third parties such as banks, the Probate Registry and HMRC.
  • Administrative and business support for allocated fee earners, anticipating the teams needs where possible.
  • Assisting with the preparation of all financial transactions as required.
About You
As a Legal Support Assistant you will have:
  • An adaptable and personable telephone etiquette and experience of working in a client facing environment.
  • Proactive nature and excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
  • Strong administration experience with a flair for PA duties.
  • Experience within a legal, medical or professional services environment; former experience within the Private Client sector would be extremely desirable.
  • Sound IT knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
