Job summary

A leading law firm in Bournemouth is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their Family Team. The successful candidate will handle a range of administrative tasks and contribute to the team's success, working closely with solicitors and other legal professionals.

Qualifications

  • Legal secretarial experience within a family team is essential.
  • Experience with Proclaim and iManage is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support including answering calls, filing, and document production.
  • Manage diaries and compliance matters for the Family Team.
  • Assist with billing and general office administration tasks.

Job description

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Family Team.

Head of Team, Daniel Sanders, and fellow Partner Lindsay Halliwell, lead a team that brings together divorce and financial settlement specialists, expert mediators, and child law practitioners. Their complementary styles, shared commitment to constructive solutions for clients and developing and mentoring the team, means the team is one of the most respected family teams on the South coast.

The team has grown significantly recently and consists of Daniel, Lindsay, a Senior Associate, an Associate, a Solicitor, a Chartered Legal Executive and two Legal Secretaries. The solicitors and partners have a busy caseload, and we are recruiting a third Legal Secretary to provide a range of administrative support services to the team.

Who we are looking for

You will have a positive, friendly demeanour, be IT literate and will be able to manage a varied workload including general secretarial tasks, such as answering calls, filing, typing (including audio typing), printing, document production, file and diary management and general office administration, including helping on compliance matters and billing.

In addition to having legal secretarial experience within a family team, the key requirements for the role are:

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to self-motivate, together with the ability to work well as part of a team to meet tight deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills;
  • An excellent understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including the production and editing of various forms of documentation.
  • Experience using modern document management systems (experience of Proclaim and iManage would be particularly useful).
