Job description

Job Title: Family Law Legal Secretary

We are supporting a leading law firm based in Totnes that is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Secretary to join their friendly and supportive team.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Identifying and locating open but dormant files, taking steps to close them, and liaising with the responsible Fee Earner as necessary.
  2. Advising on time or financial balances and any outstanding work, managing formal file closing and archiving processes.
  3. Locating archives booked out to individual Fee Earners and updating databases accordingly.
  4. Providing cost-effective administrative and secretarial support across all departments.
  5. Handling routine client enquiries and communications where possible.
  6. Managing the collation of matter start and completion data.
  7. Coordinating the key dates reminder system.
  8. Participating in marketing activities at firm, departmental, or office levels.
  9. Attending staff meetings and contributing as required.
  10. Responding to internal emails within 24 hours when necessary.
  11. Familiarizing oneself with and adhering to the staff handbook, practice rules, and procedures.
