EJ Legal Limited in Birmingham and London is seeking an experienced Employment Legal Director or junior Partner to lead and grow the employment practice. The role offers genuine succession potential and the opportunity to shape strategy across two major offices.
You will supervise and develop lawyers, manage a strong pipeline of housing/charities/public sector matters, and help drive client relationships while assuming increasing leadership responsibilities.
Birmingham - London (hybrid)
An outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Employment Legal Director or junior Partner looking to take the next step in their career, with a genuine pathway to leading an established Employment practice.
This highly regarded national law firm seeking to appoint a senior Employment lawyer as part of its continued investment in its Employment practice across Birmingham and London. This is a particularly attractive opportunity for an experienced Legal Director seeking their first Partnership appointment, or an existing junior Partner looking for greater autonomy, responsibility and long-term career progression.
Joining an established and busy Employment team, you will benefit from a strong existing pipeline of work, removing the immediate pressure to bring a substantial client following. You will play a central role in supervising and developing lawyers across the Birmingham and London offices, working closely with the current Head of Employment.
The practice has a strong employer-side focus, with approximately 70% of instructions originating from the housing, charities, public sector and local authority sectors. Crucially, this appointment offers genuine succession potential. With clear strategic succession planning in place, there is a clear opportunity for the successful candidate to position themselves for future leadership of the practice.
An established client following is advantageous but not essential.
The firm is equally interested in individuals with the leadership qualities, technical credibility and ambition to develop an existing practice. Candidates can be based in Birmingham or London, although London-based applicants must be comfortable splitting their time between both offices.
This is a rare opportunity to combine the security of an established workload with the career progression and influence typically associated with building your own practice.
The key attractions include:
If you're a Legal Director who feels ready for Partnership but hasn't yet been given the opportunity, or a junior Partner seeking a clearer route to practice leadership, this could be a particularly compelling next move.
