Introduction to the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Director to join our successful health employment team in Manchester.

You will be part of a busy and growing employment team, handling significant client responsibilities within a supportive environment that advises the NHS on national matters.

As a trusted team member, you will work closely with Partners to coordinate cases and supervise team members, with opportunities to collaborate within a wider national employment team.

The main focus of this role is to support NHS clients with legal advice and oversee complex employment tribunal litigation.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead complex employment tribunal litigation.
• Provide legal advice to healthcare clients across NHS, primary care, and private health sectors.
• Handle all employment law matters, including drafting documents, advising on employment rights, discrimination, whistleblowing, employee relations, disciplinary issues, grievances, mediation, dismissals, redundancy, restructuring, TUPE, and tribunal claims.
• Transactional support.
• Build and maintain client and internal relationships, adhering to procedures.
• Contribute to business development efforts.
• Support the health business group and firm-wide initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Supervise colleagues' work and support team development through delegation and coaching.

Essential requirements:

• Law degree (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in an employment law team.
• Ability to manage a caseload and provide pragmatic advice.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adherence to guidelines and procedures.
• Experience in client relationship management.
• Ability to coach and develop colleagues.
