Job Description:

Legal Counsel – Manager Level

Base Location: London, Reading or other KPMG UK office location (20 offices nationally)

The KPMG OGC Commercial team is fundamental to facilitating our UK business. It sits within KPMG Business Services (KBS), and we do work that matters.

Within KBS, we are part of a community of experts across a wide range of critical activities who help grow, run, and protect KPMG in the UK. From HR and Learning, Finance, Procurement, Facilities and Business Support, through to Risk and Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Sales and Marketing, our approach is focused on driving the improved performance of the firm, which we support with diligence and expertise.

KPMG is one of the world's largest and most respected consultancy businesses. We've supported the UK through times of prosperity and recession, political and regulatory upheaval. We've proudly stood beside the institutions and businesses which make the UK what it is.

We are looking for a lawyer with at least 2 years PQE to join the busy OGC Commercial team at manager level. OGC Commercial is responsible for reviewing and negotiating documents of various forms between KPMG and its clients or third parties.

The team’s work is frequently conducted against a background of time pressure and with clients whose legal and procurement teams focus on securing advantageous positions. As a result, good drafting and negotiating skills are a key requirement, together with an aptitude to apply pragmatism and good task management. Interaction with other key stakeholders is important, such as data protection, information security, pursuits, and Risk.

What will you be doing?

  • Working on a broad range of matters, including being involved in the processes for approving KPMG’s new services and products
  • Assisting with general commercial queries
  • Drafting software licences
  • Supporting our deals teams and providing contract support for KPMG’s engagement teams
  • Negotiating and drafting framework and master services agreements, working alongside client lead partners and specialists

What will you need to do it?

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 2 years PQE
  • Good drafting and negotiating skills
  • Common sense, pragmatism, and good time management skills
  • Knowledge of working in a professional services environment is an advantage
  • Ability to manage workload while ensuring compliance with KPMG’s training and administrative requirements

Skills we’d love to see:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Highly effective stakeholder management and relationship building skills; credible and confident with stakeholders at all levels
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to learn
