Job summary

OneAdvanced Limited, based in Birmingham, seeks a capable Legal Counsel for a 12-month maternity cover in a hybrid role (at least one day per week from our Birmingham HQ). You will support the business across the UK and Ireland, negotiating SaaS contracts and advising on data protection and privacy matters.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will collaborate with Sales and GTM teams and participate in strategic commercial projects, ensuring high standards and ethical compliance.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with in-house or law firm experience.
• Experience drafting and negotiating technology and SaaS contracts.
• Strong understanding of UK GDPR and data protection obligations.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements including MSAs and data processing agreements.
• Support negotiations with Sales and GTM teams to close customer agreements.
• Advise on privacy and data processing issues, escalate to Privacy/AI/Cyber specialists as needed.
• Contribute to wider commercial, strategic initiatives including AI-related considerations and potential M&A.

OneAdvanced is looking for a capable, motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Legal Commercial Team. In this key role, you’ll support the business in achieving its growth ambitions across the UK and Ireland, providing practical, commercially focused legal guidance that helps drive strategic decision making across both private and public sector customers.

Reporting into our Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to negotiate contracts, manage legal risk, and ensure we continue to operate with high legal and ethical standards.

This is a hybrid role with at least one day per week working from our Birmingham HQ.

Please note, this is a 12 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Contracting

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements for a leading SaaS provider, including MSAs, bespoke customer contracts, supplier and partner agreements, licensing terms, RFP responses, escrow agreements, call-offs, and data processing agreements. This will include supporting contracts with public sector customers and framework-based agreements where relevant.

Deal Support

Partner with Sales and GTM teams to support negotiations and help close customer agreements.

Privacy & Data Protection

Advise on privacy and data protection considerations, reviewing DPAs and escalating issues where required to our Privacy, AI & Cyber specialists.

Strategic Business Support

Get involved in wider commercial and strategic initiatives across the business, from partner and supplier agreements to AI-related legal considerations, potential M&A activity, and cross-functional commercial projects.

What You Will Have

• Qualified solicitor (or equivalent), ideally gained in-house or in a reputable law firm
• Strong background drafting, negotiating and advising on technology and SaaS commercial contracts
• Good understanding of UK GDPR and data protection obligations
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Commercial mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder skills
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Proactive, collaborative and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes
