THE ROLE

The post holder will be part of the Temenos global legal team. The role will report into the Associate General Counsel (SaaS) and opens an opportunity to join a highly motivated, skilled and experienced team of global legal professionals working on cutting-edge technology legal challenges.

The primary focus of this role will be the provision of legal advice on, drafting and policy setting in relation to the Temenos SaaS offerings. This will involve negotiating and interacting with our banking clients, partners and suppliers as well as working across the globe with colleagues in the legal, sales, finance, marketing and product teams.

The role will cover advice on a wide variety of legal matters to the SaaS business. The work will involve setting standard template agreements and training tools to assist the regional legal and sales teams. The role will work with the business management teams to gain a deep understanding of the business strategy, challenges and opportunities, key clients, competitors and suppliers.

The post holder will need to develop strong relationships with the rest of the legal team, senior management and in particular key stakeholders in the SaaS Operations, SaaS Commercial and Sales, Security, Privacy, Governance, Risk and Compliance and Finance teams.

OPPORTUNITIES
  • Support regional counsel in drafting and negotiating client agreements for SaaS / Cloud Services across all regions, including complex transactions, ensuring the company's legal interests are protected.
  • Provide advice on arrangements with major cloud providers and other technology partners relevant to Temenos' SaaS business.
  • Advise on legal issues arising from operational matters throughout the lifecycle of client contracts and specific client contract inquiries.
  • Advise on security and data protection issues related to SaaS agreements in collaboration with expert counsel and the Privacy team.
  • Monitor evolving regulations impacting the fintech sector, such as financial services outsourcing rules, EBA outsourcing guidance, DORA, etc., ensuring they are properly considered in client arrangements and Temenos' service offerings.
  • Draft and provide advice on SLA arrangements, support, and upgrade policies for client contracts.
  • Contribute to shaping SaaS business practices by identifying opportunities for template contract and process improvements globally and locally.
  • Assist in managing contract templates and updating relevant playbooks and toolkits for regional legal teams and sales teams.
  • Ensure compliance with internal licensing, technology-related agreements, and relevant issues such as revenue recognition, pricing, and commercial arrangements.
  • Identify legal issues and risks relevant to Temenos' SaaS business and escalate them appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team and expert counsel to ensure technology procurement for the SaaS business aligns with best practices and business needs.
  • Liaise and consult with internal teams (legal, finance, marketing, technology, development, etc.) to ensure adherence to corporate policies and guidelines in all technology-related legal matters.
SKILLS
  • Legal qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in the technology sector, gained either at a law firm or in-house.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in legal issues related to technology and cloud computing services, combined with a commercially aware approach to legal matters.
  • Understanding of the complexities and pressures involved in negotiating complex technical, licensing, and outsourcing agreements, particularly in the financial services technology market.
  • Hands-on experience with technology contracts, including cloud service agreements, licenses, NDAs, SLAs, and collaboration agreements—ideally from in-house legal roles.
  • Solid understanding of privacy legislation and its implications for client arrangements.
  • Proven negotiation skills, with the ability to integrate technical, business, and legal perspectives to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and an understanding of the associated challenges and dynamics.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client and business relationships while managing multiple stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish credibility and effective relationships with senior internal and external contacts.
  • Highly commercial mindset, paired with strong legal acumen and business insight.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, along with effective time management and self-scheduling capabilities.
