Kingsley Green Recruitment is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its London legal team, supporting a fast-growing business in the sports and entertainment sector with pragmatic advice across commercial matters and contracting.

The role suits a solicitor with around 5 years' PQE and a strong private practice background, capable of drafting and negotiating complex agreements and collaborating with senior stakeholders and external counsel.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years' PQE in commercial law, ideally in-house or private practice.
• Strong drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements.
• Experience with sponsorship agreements would be advantageous.
• Ability to provide commercially pragmatic, risk-balanced advice.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Advise on commercial arrangements with customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders.
• Support sponsorship, partnership and other strategic commercial agreements.
• Advise on food & beverage and related operational agreements where required.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks, providing practical and proportionate solutions.
• Work closely with stakeholders across the business to provide clear, actionable legal advice.
• Support new projects and strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.
• Collaborate with external counsel when appropriate.
• Improve contracting processes and documentation.

Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its London legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growth-focused business operating within the sports and entertainment sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider business, providing pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters and support the organisation as it continues to grow.

The role would suit a lawyer who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment and takes a hands-on, commercially focused approach to legal work.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Advise on commercial arrangements with customers, suppliers, partners and other key stakeholders.
• Support the business on sponsorship, partnership and other strategic commercial agreements.
• Advise on food & beverage and related operational agreements where required.
• Identify and manage legal and commercial risks, providing practical and proportionate solutions.
• Work closely with stakeholders across the business, developing a strong understanding of their objectives and provide clear, actionable legal advice.
• Support new projects, business initiatives and strategic opportunities from a legal perspective.
• Work collaboratively with external counsel where appropriate.
• Help develop and improve legal processes, documentation and contracting practices.
• Take ownership of matters and projects, working efficiently and effectively in a high-growth environment.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• Around 5 years' PQE + although all candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
• A strong private practice background, ideally from a Magic Circle firm or other highly regarded law firms.
• Excellent broad-based commercial experience, with a strong grounding in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Experience in sponsorship agreements would be advantageous.
• Experience with food & beverage agreements would also be beneficial, although neither is essential.
• The ability to provide commercially pragmatic advice and understand the wider objectives of the business.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
• The confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders and build strong relationships across the organisation.
• The ability to work at pace and manage a varied workload in a dynamic environment.
• A flexible, adaptable and hands-on approach, with a willingness to get involved across a broad range of matters.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.

This is a broad commercial legal role offering the opportunity to work closely with the business and have genuine involvement in a range of strategic and operational matters. The role would suit both an experienced in-house lawyer (who trained in private practice) or a strong private practice lawyer looking to make their first move in-house.
