Job summary

Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing UK business in London to hire a Commercial Counsel. This role sits in a lean legal team, reports to the General Counsel, and will act as the principal adviser across the business on commercial matters.

You'll handle contracts, partnerships, regulatory issues, data protection, and drive playbooks and templates while supporting growth and transformation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PQE with broad commercial experience.
• In-house or top law firm with significant commercial advisory work.
• Experience in regulated sectors is advantageous.
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and building trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• Advise on commercial contracts and strategic partnerships.

Commercial Counsel

London | Hybrid (2 days per week)| Up to £100,000

We're working with a fast-growing, PE-backed UK business that has recently completed a significant acquisition and is entering an exciting new phase of growth.

This is a rare opportunity to join a lean legal team where you'll report directly to the General Counsel, become the principal legal adviser across the business and play a key role in shaping the legal function as the company continues to scale.

The Opportunity

This is a genuinely broad commercial role with exposure across legal, commercial and operational matters. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, support strategic projects and have real influence over how the legal function develops.

You'll advise on:

• Commercial contracts and strategic partnerships
• Supplier and distribution arrangements
• Business-wide legal and commercial advice
• Acquisition integration and contract migration
• Regulatory and compliance matters
• Managing external counsel
• Data protection and technology projects
• Legal processes, templates and playbooks
• Strategic transformation and growth initiatives

About You

You'll ideally have 5+ years' PQE with broad commercial experience, either in-house or from a leading law firm with significant commercial advisory work.

Experience in a regulated sector such as financial services, insurance, energy, utilities or consumer finance would be advantageous.
