Job summary

BCL Legal Limited is seeking a Compliance Officer in Newcastle to join its team. The role focuses on performing end-to-end client due diligence in line with AML guidance, obtaining identification, and supporting client onboarding to enhance service in a regulated legal environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict confidentiality and data accuracy.

Qualifications

• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably legal sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and discreet in handling information.

Responsibilities

• Execute end-to-end client due diligence in line with AML guidance.
• Obtain all required identification in line with procedures.
• Support client onboarding to enhance service and efficiency.
• Monitor onboarding progress and escalate issues as needed.
• Liaise with Head of Risk and Compliance on client ID matters.
• Provide progress updates to partners, solicitors and staff.
• Issue compliance approvals after due diligence in the practice management system.
• Monitor and manage emails in the Compliance mailbox.
• Ensure internal procedures are consistently followed.
• Maintain accurate data entry in the system.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Manage ongoing monitoring alerts for clients and report concerns.
• Adhere to firm policies on health, IT security, equality and safety.
• Assist with other tasks and projects as required.
