Legal Compliance Manager

Location: West Midlands

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you a proactive Compliance Manager looking oversee and manage all aspects of regulatory compliance across a standout firm.

About the Role:

As Compliance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the firm meets its obligations under the SRA Standards and Regulations, anti-money laundering (AML) legislation, data protection (GDPR), and other relevant frameworks. You will also lead the handling and resolution of client complaints, supporting a culture of compliance and risk awareness firm-wide.

This role works closely with our COLP, COFA, MLRO, and senior stakeholders to embed compliance best practices across all operations. While not currently holding COLP or COFA responsibilities, you will be central to maintaining robust controls and providing hands-on compliance advice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain firm-wide compliance policies and procedures
• Monitor compliance with SRA Standards, AML, GDPR, and financial crime prevention laws
• Lead investigation and resolution of client complaints in line with requirements
• Manage processes relating to professional negligence claims and liaise with insurers
• Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews
• Deliver training and guidance on compliance to staff at all levels
• Maintain compliance registers and support risk mitigation strategies
• Work collaboratively with the Operations Board and regulatory bodies
• Assist with professional indemnity insurance renewals and risk assessments

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven compliance experience in the UK legal sector
• Strong understanding of SRA Standards, AML, GDPR, and related regulations
• Experience managing complaints in professional services
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Confident communicator able to engage across all levels of the firm
