DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Legal Assistant 2, you will support the staff in processing unemployment compensation appeals involving varied and complicated legal issues. In this role, you will manage the hearing schedule, prepare hearing notices, and transcribe decisions from digital recordings. Your duties will include preparing decisions from typed drafts, proofreading documents, inputting and verifying data, and maintaining electronic and paper files. You can expect to greet clients and handle client inquiries by various means. Additionally, you will navigate computer applications and interpret documentation and records.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may be negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bristol.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Legal Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
  • Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
