A fast-growing SaaS business is looking for a Legal and Compliance lead to join the COO team in London. This role is crucial for supporting the company's continued growth and long-term international development. You will ensure the firm operates with compliant and sensible business processes, manage data privacy programs, and oversee compliance projects such as ISO, GDPR, privacy policies, and SOC 2 readiness.

What are the role requirements?

In this role, you will be expected to:

1. Manage the firm’s privacy and compliance roadmap, including overseeing global data protection compliance, updating policies, and centralizing processes.
2. Develop and maintain internal data privacy policies, provide GDPR training, and promote awareness of privacy issues across the organization.
3. Conduct training sessions for employees on legal matters such as compliance, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies.
4. Guide the firm’s legal compliance across areas like data protection laws, industry regulations, terms and conditions, and payment terms.
5. Implement scalable legal processes that support business growth while ensuring compliance.
6. Provide legal advice to departments on marketing, sales agreements, and new product launches, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
7. Advise on legal implications of data handling practices and assist with due diligence during fundraising rounds.
8. Partner with external law firms or consultancies for expert advice as the company scales.

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience.
• Experience working within a SaaS or technology company.
• Qualified Lawyer (overseas qualification acceptable).
• Experience with ISO projects, privacy, and security regulations.
• Proven experience developing compliance programs.
