Job summary

Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College is seeking a Sociology teacher for its Sixth Form at the Uxbridge site. You will deliver A Level, AS, GCSE and BTEC Sociology to 16–19 learners, across the full range of levels.

You will hold a degree in a relevant subject and have successful teaching experience up to Level 3, including A Level. The College will support you to obtain the Level 5 teaching qualification if needed, and sponsorship may be available.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant subject and successful teaching experience in sociology up to Level 3, including A Level.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to engage 16–19 learners.
• College will support obtaining Level 5 teaching qualification if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Teach Sociology across A Level, AS, GCSE and BTEC programmes.
• Deliver engaging lessons and assess student progress in line with college policies.
• Contribute to safeguarding, equal opportunities and department activities.

Our Sixth Form at Uxbridge College is responsible primarily for the delivery of A Level, AS, GCSE and BTEC Science courses and is based at the Uxbridge site. We have a track record of achieving strong results which places the Sixth Form amongst the top performing colleges nationally for A level progress. Historically, Sociology has been one of the best performing and most popular subjects within the Sixth Form. You would teach across Sociology programmes up to A Level.

You will possess a degree in a relevant subject and have successful teaching experience in the subject area up to Level 3, including A Level. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage young people aged 16-19. If you do not already possess a teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain the Level 5 teaching qualification.

We may be able to provide sponsorship for this role.
