Job description

Salary:

Lecturer, Grade 7: Starting at £37,099;

Senior Lecturer, Grade 8: Starting at £42,978 per annum

Initial teacher training (ITT) at Plymouth Marjon University has a considerable history, stretching back over 180 years.

We would welcome applications from candidates who wish to make a substantive contribution to Secondary PGCE programmes with the following experience and credentials:

Essential:

  • Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Holds a Master’s degree or has equivalent professional experience
  • Has recent school experience teaching the national curriculum (England)
  • Has a specialism in secondary humanities
  • Has a track record of keeping up to date with evidence informed practice
  • Has experience supporting trainee teachers and/or early career teachers

Desirable:

  • Has experience of contributing to the delivery of ITT secondary QTS provision
  • Has experience of ITT curriculum and programme design
  • Has a doctorate or is enrolled currently in a doctoral degree programme

  • Preparing trainee teachers: drawing on your knowledge and teaching expertise to ensure trainees are evidence informed and ‘school-ready’.
  • Teaching: designing and delivering innovative teaching sessions, fostering an inclusive environment for all and marking assignments.
  • Quality Assurance of placement experiences: visiting trainees on placement, supporting school mentors and tracking trainee progress.
  • Recruitment: interviewing and selecting appropriate trainees for the PGCE course and supporting recruitment events.
  • Pastoral support continuing our unprecedented success in student satisfaction by providing pastoral and academic support to our trainees.
