Job summary

The University of Law in Manchester is seeking a Computer Science Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to guide students through core concepts and emerging technologies, delivering academically rigorous and industry-relevant teaching.

Reporting into our Head of Computer Science, you'll play a key role in guiding students through core computing concepts and emerging technologies, providing an exceptional learning experience that’s both academically rigorous and industry relevant.

We welcome applicants from all areas of computing and are particularly keen to hear from candidates with expertise in cyber security/digital forensics/risk & compliance/penetration testing.

As Our Computer Science Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer, you will:

• Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support

• Identify the need for developing the content, structure, assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved.

• Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular and assessment design.

• Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills

• Act as a module tutor, academic coach and sign-post students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey.

• Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support

• Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas and information to a range of groups

Requirements For Lecturer Positions

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject

• Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards*

• Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE*

Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation. Successful completion/ qualification is essential to this role.

Requirements For Senior Lecturer Positions

• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject

• Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA)

• Relevant teaching qualification

For Senior Lecturers you will have developed significant expertise in: Application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.
