About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Science to join our Science department at The Bedford College Group .

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Overall Responsibilities – Prepare, deliver, and assess a range of science-related courses; support student success; manage learning experiences; complete course administration.
  • Teaching & Curriculum – Teach across Level 2–5 Science courses including T Levels and HNC; prepare schemes of work; develop engaging learning materials; assess and verify student work; monitor progress and set actions.
  • Learning Environment – Maintain inclusive, safe, and engaging classrooms; uphold student behaviour standards; stay current in subject specialism; share expertise with colleagues.
  • Administration & Quality – Complete accurate records and admin tasks; contribute to course team meetings and reviews; implement quality processes; support student feedback and surveys.
  • Engagement & Compliance – Participate in marketing events; interview and assess prospective students; promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health and safety; engage in ongoing training and development.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Subject Expertise – A degree in a Science subject or equivalent experience is required, along with GCSEs in English and Maths (A–C). Ability to teach Forensic Science, Chemistry, or other Level 3 Science subjects is essential.
  • Teaching Capability & Development – Must be willing to work towards a teaching qualification and able to deliver across a range of courses including Level 2/3 Applied Science, T Levels, and HNC.
  • Professional Skills & Experience – Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups, meet deadlines, and contribute to team goals. Prior high performance in roles and strong organisational skills are key.
  • Values & Communication – Must align with values of Student Focus, High Performance, and Respect. Strong communication skills and a professional approach to representing the organisation are essential.
  • Safeguarding & Continuous Improvement – Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, maintaining professional boundaries, and continuously updating skills and knowledge, including health and safety awareness.
