Job summary

DN Colleges Group is seeking a Lecturer- Motor Vehicle to join our Engineering team in Scunthorpe. You will deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Motor Vehicle programmes and act as a Programme Tutor for a caseload, providing academic and pastoral support to help learners achieve their goals.

You will embed English and Maths in lessons, monitor progress and contribute to curriculum development, recruitment events and collaboration with colleagues across the college.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Motor Vehicle qualification at Level 3.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification or willing to work towards.

DN Colleges is seeking a Lecturer- Motor Vehicle to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning across a range of Motor Vehicle programmes, supporting students to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and behaviours needed for success in further learning and employment.

As well as delivering engaging lessons, you will act as a Programme Tutor for a caseload of students, providing academic and pastoral support, monitoring progress and helping learners achieve their goals. We welcome applications from experienced lecturers and industry professionals with strong motor vehicle expertise who are interested in beginning a rewarding career in education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes.
  • Act as a Programme Tutor, supporting student progress, achievement and wellbeing.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons using innovative teaching methods and learning technologies.
  • Embed English and Maths within lessons where appropriate.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour and progression, taking action to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records including assessments, progress tracking and student documentation.
  • Develop positive relationships with industry partners to enhance learning opportunities and progression routes.
  • Support curriculum development and contribute to quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities including open days, admissions events and promotional activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the curriculum and support services to achieve excellent outcomes for students.
Essential Criteria
  • Relevant Motor Vehicle qualification at Level 3.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification or willing to work towards
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of Motor Vehicle curriculum requirements.
  • Experience of embedding English and Maths within learning activities.
  • Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.

  • In DN Colleges we call this role Lecturer- Motor Vehicle but you might know this as Motor Vehicle Lecturer, Automotive Lecturer, Vehicle Maintenance Lecturer, Automotive Engineering Lecturer or Motor Vehicle Tutor.

Additional Information
  • Teaching Qualifications: Applicants are not required to hold a teaching qualification at the point of appointment. However, they must be willing to work towards and achieve a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification within the first 18 months of employment. This qualification must then be maintained through ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD). At DN Colleges Group, a recognised teaching qualification is defined as Level 5 or above.
