Job summary

Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand – Nelson invites applications for a Lecturer | Kaiako position, based at our Nelson | Whakatū Regional Education Centre. You will teach within BTch (ECE) or GradDip (ECE) programmes and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive teaching.

You will support tauira success, embed te Tiriti o Waitangi in teaching, and contribute to research activity. A postgraduate qualification in Education and a strong ECE background are essential.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification (Masters) in Education or a related field.
• Strong background in Early Childhood Education.
• Full teacher certification and a current practising certificate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to innovative, evidence-based and student-centred teaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Research and publication capability is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and delivering course material.
• Assessing student work and providing meaningful feedback.
• Supervising student teacher placements with mentorship and guidance.
• Developing and updating curriculum materials.
• Contributing to programme administration, including recruitment and retention.
• Participating in research and scholarly activity.

Te Rito Maioha is a Category One rated tertiary provider and a Te Tiriti-led organisation committed to strengthening outcomes for tamariki, whānau and hapori through high-quality, culturally grounded teacher education.

We are seeking a Lecturer | Kaiako to join our team in a full-time role based at our Nelson | Whakatū Regional Education Centre, teaching within our BTch (ECE) or GradDip (ECE) programmes.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, culturally responsive teaching and help shape the next generation of teachers. You will support tauira success and embed te Tiriti o Waitangi in teaching and learning practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• preparing and delivering course material
• assessing student work and providing meaningful feedback
• supervising student teacher placements with mentorship and guidance
• developing and updating curriculum materials
• contributing to programme administration, including recruitment and retention
• participating in research and scholarly activity

We are looking for someone with:
