Job description

Job Title: Lecturer in IT

Location: Merton College

Salary: £37,912 - £45,660 per annum, plus up to 53 days + Bank Holidays

Closing Date: 8th June 2025

About the Role

The School of Commercial, Creative and Professional Studies at Merton College is seeking a Lecturer in IT to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students. The role focuses on maximizing achievement and fostering continuous improvement.

You will support curriculum development, employer engagement, and learner skill development. As a Course Leader and Pastoral Tutor, you will create and implement innovative teaching methods, learning assessments, and support materials.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree or relevant professional qualification in IT
  • A teaching qualification and recent IT teaching experience in an FE College or school
  • Experience teaching IT-related courses, including programming languages, data modeling, cybersecurity, and website development
  • Strong knowledge of the current IT BTEC Framework, T-Level curriculum, and Apprenticeships in IT
Skills and Attributes
  • Proven track record of effective tutoring, learner support, and progress monitoring
  • Experience in setting targets, tracking, and reviewing learner progress
  • Excellent teaching, assessment, and employer engagement skills
  • Advanced computer literacy and office software skills
  • Effective presentation, communication, and time management skills
Additional Information

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual salary increases based on the cost of living review.

The benefits package includes 40 days of annual leave plus up to 8 days over Christmas/New Year, 5 wellbeing days, a pension scheme, subsidised sports facilities, professional development opportunities, and a cycle-to-work scheme.
