Job summary

Weston College in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Lecturer in Sport to deliver high-quality teaching across sport programmes at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre. The role is 37 hours per week and interviews will be held on-site at the Skills Centre.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a relevant subject, have teaching experience, and be committed to student progress and progression guidance.

• Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and guidance to students on progression to employment or further study.

In this role, you will be working 5 days per week (37 hours) within our Sport department, based at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre.

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre in Weston-super-Mare.

As a Lecturer in Sport, you will:

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of programmes as agreed with the Head of Area;
• Tutor students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards;
• Meet targets with reference to student progress on programme, for their attendance and retention;
• Provide advice and guidance to students in their progression to either employment or other courses within the College;

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject.
• Teaching experience and knowledge of current teaching strategies.
• Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.

You will also need to either hold a teaching qualification, or be willing to gain this whilst in post (with the support of Weston College)
