Job summary

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) seeks a dedicated academic or industry professional to teach quantity surveying across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the UK and through partnerships in China.

You will bring current industry practice to the classroom, contribute to curriculum innovation, supervise projects and research, and work with colleagues to enhance graduate outcomes and the School's reputation.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in quantity surveying and developing future built environment professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of construction costing, procurement, contract administration, project management and construction technology.
  • Ability to inspire diverse students and engage in international teaching and scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and shape engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation and supervise student projects and research.
  • Support School's research and knowledge exchange activities and collaborate with colleagues to improve student outcomes.
  • Engage internationally, including periodic teaching visits to China and positive participation in wider academic activities.

Job description

Working within our School of Engineering and the Built Environment, you will play a key role in delivering and shaping an engaging student experience across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will contribute teaching in quantity surveying both in the UK and through our established international partnerships in China, bringing current industry knowledge and professional practice into the classroom. Alongside teaching, you will support curriculum innovation, supervise student projects and research, contribute to the School's research and knowledge exchange activities, and work collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen student success, graduate outcomes and the reputation of the School. You will be an enthusiastic and collaborative academic or industry professional with expertise in quantity surveying and a passion for developing future built environment professionals. You will have strong knowledge of areas such as construction costing, procurement, contract administration, project management and construction technology, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to inspire and support students from diverse backgrounds, contribute to research, scholarship or professional practice, and demonstrate a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and inclusive education. Applicants should be willing to engage internationally, including periodic teaching visits to China, and contribute positively to the wider academic community.
