Job description

About the role

We are seeking an experienced neurological physiotherapist to join the School of Healthcare as a Lecturer in Neurological Physiotherapy. In this teaching-focused role, you will undertake research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy programmes, contributing to an excellent and inclusive student experience. You will deliver teaching through lectures, seminars, tutorials and other appropriate methods, provide timely assessment and feedback, and support students during practice education, which may include activity within clinical environments.

You will contribute to the development, review and delivery of innovative programmes that embed key skills and sustainable development goals. Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, you will help shape teaching strategy, support placement activity, employability, outreach, admissions and open days, and contribute to external assessment and review by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council. You will also develop a profile in pedagogical or disciplinary research, contribute to public engagement and enterprise, and represent the School and University through appropriate committees, reviews and professional networks.

About you

You will be a qualified physiotherapist with a relevant degree at 2:1 or above, substantial professional experience in neurological physiotherapy and a strong understanding of UK healthcare systems. You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, providing your membership number within your application. You will have experience of teaching Physiotherapy, supervising students on placement and contributing to the leadership and development of learning and teaching. Fellowship of Advance HE, or an equivalent accredited teaching qualification, is required, although applicants who are committed to obtaining an accredited qualification within an agreed period following appointment will also be considered.

You will be an effective and inclusive educator with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently and collaboratively, you will bring the organisational skills needed to plan and deliver programmes of work, develop engaging learning resources, support students pastorally and coach or mentor others. Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, workplace research, curriculum enhancement or scholarship in the discipline would be advantageous, as would a relevant master’s degree or PhD, or progress towards one.
