The Music Department at the University of Manchester invites applications for a fixed-term (36 month) Lectureship in Musicology, tenable from 1 September 2025. This position has become available due to the award of a three-year Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship to Professor Rebecca Herissone. Applicants from all areas of Musicology will be considered, but preference may be given to those offering specialist expertise in historical musicology, early notation/source studies/material cultures, and/or performance studies. Additional experience of directing and/or managing a period-instrument ensemble is also welcomed.
You will be a committed and versatile teacher and will be expected to deliver undergraduate and Master’s-level teaching and supervision across the curriculum. You will also contribute to the broader management and administration of the department under the guidance of the Head of Music.
