Job summary

City of Portsmouth College is seeking an inspirational and dedicated A Level Media Studies Lecturer to join the Visual Arts department at the Sixth Form Campus. You will deliver engaging lessons, support curriculum development and help students achieve outstanding outcomes, preparing them for progression to higher education and careers in the media industries.

The role requires a degree in Media, a teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards), and a passion for developing students'

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Media or a relevant area.
• Teaching Qualification or willing to work towards.
• Ability to meet targets within set timescales.
• Ability to work well in teams but also to work independently, with the minimum of supervision.
• Digital literacy (Adobe suite, Photoshop, web design).
• An interest in contemporary media affairs.

Responsibilities

• Teach on a range of programmes, providing high-quality learning opportunities to meet needs of students/apprentices.
• Provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, relevant curriculum and programmes; develop new programmes and produce annual schemes of work.

Salary: £12,099.32 - £17,719.47 (0.4) or £18.148.98 - £26,579.21 (0.6) Actual, £30,248.30 - £44,298.68 Full Time Equivalent

Hours of work: 14 - 21 hours per week/0.4 - 0.6 (inclusive of teaching and prep time), 52 weeks per year, Permanent

About the role

We are seeking an inspirational and dedicated A Level Media Studies Lecturer to join our thriving Visual Arts department at the Sixth Form Campus of City of Portsmouth College. Media Studies sits within a collaborative and creative faculty alongside subjects such as Art and Design, Photography, Film Studies and other visual and digital disciplines, providing students with a rich and dynamic learning experience. The successful candidate will be passionate about developing students' critical understanding of media, contemporary culture and digital communication, while fostering creativity, analytical thinking and academic excellence. Working within a highly supportive team, you will deliver engaging lessons, contribute to curriculum development and help students achieve outstanding outcomes, preparing them for progression to higher education and careers within the creative and media industries. Key Responsibilities

• To teach on a range of programmes, providing high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual students/apprentices and groups in line with the College's strategic priorities and objectives.
• To provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
• To contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, relevant curriculum and programmes. Curriculum Development responsibilities include:
  • Actively contributing to the development of new programmes within the curriculum area
  • Producing annual schemes of work and/or training plans for all subjects/programmes to be taught
