Job summary

The University of Greater Manchester is seeking an enthusiastic Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to contribute to teaching, research, and professional practice across its mechanical engineering portfolio.

You will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, develop materials and assessments, and support curriculum development while supervising students and engaging with external partners.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a relevant discipline and effective teaching, assessment, and communication skills.
• PhD or Professional Doctorate (or near completion) is expected or may be required within a defined timeframe.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across mechanical engineering programmes.
• Develop engaging teaching materials, assessments, and practical learning activities.
• Contribute to curriculum design, module review, and programme enhancement.
• Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students.
• Undertake research, scholarly activity, and/or professional practice that informs teaching and enhances the University’s reputation.
• Engage with external bodies, industry, and professional organisations.
• Participate in student recruitment activities, including open days and partnership development.
• Support student welfare and contribute to quality assurance processes.
