Job Title: Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

Salary: Up to 45k per annum

Reports to: Faculty Manager

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Business hours are Mon-Thurs, 9am-9pm, and Fri-Sun, 9am-6pm.

Location: Flexible to work across our Central London campus sites

Start Date: Interviews are ongoing; roles to start on 11 August 2025 or 1 September 2025, subject to a successful interview.

Overall purpose

The Lecturer will design, develop, and deliver learning and teaching materials across modules or within a subject area, in face-to-face or online formats, ensuring student engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Teach sessions weekly, including lectures, seminars, and tutorials
• Maintain attendance records and collaborate with the attendance team
• Deliver teaching sessions aligned with program and module specifications
• Utilize digital tools such as VLEs and MS Teams
• Develop teaching materials for modules
• Engage students during sessions
• Suggest improvements to enhance the student experience
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop or revise content

Assessment and Marking

• Set assessments and ensure timely submissions
• Support assessment development and approval processes
• Participate in moderation and standardization meetings
• Provide formative and summative feedback to students
• Identify and escalate academic misconduct cases

Student Support

• Address student engagement and performance issues
• Refer students to support services as needed
• Monitor student progress and liaise with support services

Quality Assurance

• Provide module evaluation reports
• Contribute to program evaluations and continuous improvement
• Participate in college committees and quality assurance activities
• Reflect on student feedback for improvements
• Support accreditation processes

Scholarship

• Engage in scholarship activities to support teaching and knowledge update
• Apply scholarship to teaching and external activities
• Support the college's scholarship plans

Managing People and Resources

• Coordinate with staff and support the delivery of modules
• Manage projects related to your area of work
• Coordinate work of others, such as associate lecturers
• Design and deliver modules and assessments
• Assist in student recruitment and marketing activities
