Our location enables us to have excellent contacts with practitioners and policymakers, and we have a strong tradition of engagement with the legal profession.

The School houses the world-renowned Centre of Medical Law and Ethics, the first of its kind in the UK, and one of the first internationally. The Centre’s interdisciplinary research is world-leading across a broad range of topics. Its members are involved in policy engagement and impact activities and hold various positions on committees and regulatory bodies. They also have a successful track record of attracting high-level grant funding. The Centre’s postgraduate programmes include the MA in Medical Ethics and Law, the MA in Medical Law and the MSc in Mental Health, Ethics and Law. Centre staff are also involved in PhD supervision and the provision of some undergraduate teaching.

The post-holder will also be involved in PhD supervision and in the provision of other postgraduate and undergraduate teaching in law.

The post-holder will undertake world-leading research in healthcare ethics and law and will have a deep personal commitment to the delivery of teaching of the highest quality in this field.
