Bath Spa University seeks a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to join the English Language Unit. The postholder will deliver high-quality EAP teaching and contribute to assessment, curriculum development and language strategy across the University.

The role is based at the London Canary Wharf campus but will support staff and students across other sites; travel between locations is required. This is a full-time appointment with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
• DELTA, DipTESOL, or closely related qualification.
• Minimum 2 years Higher Education EAP teaching experience.
• Experience assessing English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Produce valid assessment materials for admissions purposes.
• Support moderation, standardisation and QA activities.
• Plan and deliver engaging EAP teaching across in-sessional programmes.
• Provide tutorials to support language and academic skills.
• Assess students with formative and summative methods and feedback.
• Monitor progress and identify students needing extra language support.
• Contribute to EAP curricula and teaching materials.
• Develop academic language resources and embedded activities.
• Contribute to English language proficiency assessments and moderation.
• Collaborate with schools, services, admissions and partners.
• Support the University's internationalisation and QA efforts.
• Engage in CPD and undertake administrative duties.

Bath Spa U Ltd is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to join the English Language Unit.

The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality English language provision, while supporting curriculum development, English language assessment, quality assurance, and the University’s embedded academic language strategy. The role combines high-quality teaching with contribution to assessment, partnership working, and the enhancement of English language provision across the University.

The role is based at the London Canary Wharf campus but will also support staff and students across other teaching sites. Travel between sites will therefore be required.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Produce valid, reliable and appropriate assessment materials and test items for admissions purposes.
• Support moderation, standardisation and quality assurance activities.
• Plan and deliver engaging, student-centred EAP and English language teaching across in-sessional programmes.
• Provide individual and small group tutorials to support students with language and academic skills.
• Assess students through formative and summative assessment, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Monitor student progress and identify students requiring additional language support.
• Contribute to the design, review and evaluation of EAP curricula and teaching materials.
• Develop discipline-specific academic language resources and embedded academic language activities.
• Contribute to the design, delivery and moderation of English language proficiency assessments.
• Work collaboratively with academic schools, professional services, admissions teams and external partners.
• Contribute to the University's internationalisation agenda and quality enhancement activities.
• Engage in continuing professional development and undertake administrative duties effectively.

About You

Qualifications and Experience Essential

• A recognised undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification
• DELTA, DipTESOL, or a closely related qualification in English language teaching
• Minimum 2 years Higher Education EAP teaching experience
• Experience of assessing English language proficiency

Desirable

• Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or closely related discipline
• Fellowship of Advance HE or PGCHE (or willingness to complete)
• Experience developing English language assessments.
• Experience working collaboratively with academic departments.
