Job summary

University of Brighton, School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering, invites applications for a Lecturer in Engineering to inspire undergraduate and postgraduate engineers. The role covers teaching, curriculum development, and research across Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Design.

This 1.0 FTE post is fixed-term for 12 months with potential for job share; benefits include a generous pension scheme and opportunities for remote working within the UK.

Qualifications

• Up-to-date, sound knowledge of Mechanical Engineering in general and Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Design in particular, and the range of required generic skills.
• Knowledge of and/or experience in Engineering Management, Energy and Renewable Technologies is desirable.
• A relevant degree in Engineering or a closely related subject and a postgraduate qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience of, or potential to develop, quality research, consultancy or knowledge exchange activity relevant to the needs of the School.
• Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard software packages, alongside relevant industrial/professional experience and membership of a subject-related professional institution, are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor students in Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Deliver hands-on learning in areas such as Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Design.
• Contribute to curriculum development and research activities to advance Engineering education.
• Support practice-based teaching and utilise state-of-the-art Laboratories.
• Collaborate with the course team to foster a strong culture of teaching and knowledge exchange across disciplines.
