Job summary

Wirral Metropolitan College in Birkenhead seeks a Lecturer in Education and Early Years on a 17.5 hours per week fixed-term contract until July 2027. The salary ranges from £15,705 to £21,720 per annum.

The role involves delivering formal teaching across level 1 to 3 programmes, acting as a personal tutor or programme leader where required, preparing schemes of work and learning materials, assessing students and providing feedback, and contributing to internal quality assurance and programme

Qualifications

• Experience delivering teaching across relevant programmes.
• Ability to assess, provide feedback and set improvement targets.
• Experience as tutor or programme leader is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out formal scheduled teaching on programmes ranging from level 1 to 3.
• Undertake a personal tutor and/or programme leader role to groups of students to maintain high achievement rates.
• Prepare schemes of work, session plans and learning materials.
• Carry out student assessments and mark students' work and examinations and provide feedback to students and set targets for improvement.
• Carry out internal quality assurance.
• Work as part of the team in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of all aspects of the programmes.

• Carry out formal scheduled teaching on programmes ranging from level 1 to 3.

• Level 2 or above English/literacy qualifications
• Level 2 or above Maths/numeracy qualifications
• Degree or equivalent qualification in early year, education or social sciences or a related area.
• Recognised full teaching qualification or be working towards.]
• Have experience of working with children.
• Able to evidence successful experience of teaching, training or assessing groups of students.
• Sound grasp of relevant teaching strategies and techniques.
