Job summary

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking a Lecturer in Early Years at the Salisbury Campus on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for one year. The role involves teaching and assessing Level 1–2 and T Level programmes, sharing professional Early Years expertise, and supporting learners’ progression into employment or further study.

The post offers a salary around 29k–40k pro rata depending on skills and qualifications, with a range of staff benefits and a part-time, fixed-term

Qualifications

  • A Level 3+ qualification or substantial experience in Early Years, Childcare, Early Education, or related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of early years practice and safeguarding.
  • Ability to engage, motivate and support learners.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess learners across Level 1, 2 and T Level programmes as appropriate.
  • Deliver engaging, practical, industry-focused lessons.
  • Develop learners’ knowledge of child development and safeguarding.

We’re looking for a passionate Lecturer in Early Years to join our team at Salisbury Campus on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for one year.

What We Offer

Salary:

  • Unqualified Lecturer: £29,294 per year, pro rata
  • Qualified Lecturer: £31,885 – £40,814 per year, pro rata (Depending on Skills, Qualifications & Experience)
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term Maternity Cover 1 year, Part Time 22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

What You’ll Do
  • Teach and assess learners across Level 1, 2 and T Level programmes, where appropriate
  • Deliver engaging, practical and industry-focused lessons
  • Develop learners’ knowledge of child development, safeguarding, wellbeing and early years practice
  • Support learners to achieve qualifications and progress into employment, apprenticeships or higher education
  • Share your professional Early Years knowledge and real-world experience
  • Help learners build confidence, professionalism and ambition
  • Prepare learners for successful careers working with children and families
  • Contribute to an inclusive, supportive and inspiring learning environment
What You’ll Bring
  • A Level 3+ qualification and/or significant experience in Early Years, Childcare, Early Education or a related subject
  • Strong Early Years knowledge and practical professional experience
  • An understanding of child development, safeguarding and current Early Years practice
  • The ability to engage, motivate and support learners
  • A passion for practical, inclusive and industry-relevant learning
  • A Level 4 teaching qualification is welcomed, but not essential
