Job summary

Protocol is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Lecturer to deliver Level 2 Early Years and Childcare qualifications at a further education college in Mansfield on a temporary, part‑time basis.

You will plan, teach, and assess across Level 2 programmes, supporting learners to progress into employment or further study. Requirements include a recognised teaching qualification and recent Level 2 FE experience, with an Enhanced DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering Level 2 Early Years and Childcare qualifications in FE or training settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging teaching across Level 2 Early Years programmes.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Support learners in developing both theoretical knowledge and practical Early Years skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and learner progress.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Prepare learners for progression into employment or further study.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Lecturer to join a successful Further Education College on a temporary basis.


The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Level 2 Early Years and Childcare qualifications, supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for progression within the Early Years sector.


This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to make a meaningful impact on learner outcomes within a supportive FE environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching across Level 2 Early Years programmes.

  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with awarding body requirements.

  • Monitor learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

  • Support learners in developing both theoretical knowledge and practical Early Years skills.

Essential Requirements


  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent).

  • A relevant qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Education, or a related subject.

  • Experience delivering Level 2 Early Years and Childcare qualifications within a Further Education or training setting.

  • Strong knowledge of Early Years frameworks and best practice.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.

  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one prior to commencement.


Desirable Requirements


  • Experience delivering CACHE, NCFE, BTEC, or similar vocational qualifications.

  • Previous experience working within a Further Education College.

  • Industry experience within an Early Years setting.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and learner welfare requirements.
