Job Title: Lecturer in Computing

Reports to: Faculty Manager

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, with business operations from Mon-Thu, 9am-9pm, and Fri-Sun, 9am-6pm.

Location: Flexibility to work across Southall and Central London campuses

Start Date: Interviews are ongoing; roles available from 11 August 2025 or 1 September 2025, subject to a successful interview.

Overall purpose

The Lecturer will design, develop, and deliver learning materials across modules or within a subject area, in hybrid formats (face-to-face or online), ensuring student engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Teach scheduled sessions, including lectures, seminars, tutorials.
• Maintain attendance records and collaborate with the attendance team.
• Deliver sessions aligned with programme and module specifications.
• Utilize digital platforms like VLEs and MS Teams.
• Develop teaching materials.
• Engage students actively during sessions.
• Propose improvements for student experience.
• Collaborate on module content development.

Assessment and Marking

• Set and ensure timely submission of assessments.
• Support assessment creation and approval processes.
• Participate in moderation and standardization meetings.
• Provide formative and summative feedback.
• Identify and escalate academic misconduct cases.

Student Support

• Address student engagement and performance issues.
• Refer students to support services as needed.
• Monitor progress of Learning Support Plans.

Quality Assurance

• Provide module evaluation reports.
• Contribute to programme evaluations and meetings.
• Engage in quality assurance activities and reflect on feedback.
• Support accreditation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Scholarship

• Engage in scholarship to enhance teaching.
• Apply knowledge from research to teaching and external activities.
• Support the College’s Scholarship Plan.

Managing People and Resources

• Coordinate with colleagues and support staff as module leader.
• Manage projects and external activities.
• Oversee module delivery and assessment design.
• Assist recruitment and marketing efforts.
• Address delivery issues within scope, escalating as necessary.
