Job description

As part of a commitment to strategic growth of the Division of Biosciences, we wish to appoint an academic working in the field of microbiology. Specifically, we are looking for candidates interested in areas in microbial infection, antibiotic resistance, and drug discovery.

Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus

Salary: Grade 8 from £44,240 to £56,903 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, with potential to progress to £63,706 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Description of College/Department:

Within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS), the Department of Life Sciences and the Division of Biosciences focus on world-leading scientific research that underpins our high-quality, research-led teaching.

We are seeking an academic in microbiology with a proven track record of high-quality research, clear future research plans, and research proposal development experience. Expertise in bioinformatics, AI-led drug discovery, microbial bioinformatics, and multi-omics analysis is particularly welcome. Candidates with a doctoral degree in a relevant field are encouraged to apply, including early career scientists seeking to transition to independence.

The successful candidate will combine a world-class research program with student-centered, research-led teaching in data analysis, complementing our BSc and MSc programs in related fields.
